Going holo holo

Holo- what?!

Holo holo is a hawaiian word that means to "go out, go on a pleasure trip" and that's exactly what my husband and I did with our children!  It's actually one of the rare vacations we have taken where we don't include visiting family.

We just got finished with spending a week on the Big Island of Hawai'i (and yes, it really is big!) It's one of the most ecologically diverse places in the world with 11 out of 13 ecological climates represented and an active volcano to boot! Kind of crazy if you think about it!

If you ever PCS to Hawai'i you must take advantage of visiting a neighbor island at least once.  It's totally worth it and an amazing experience.  People save for years to come and visit and it's all in our backyard!  We visited lava fields, an active lava vent, a rain forest, coffee farm, ancient Hawaiian temples (heiau's), beaches, a waterfall and much more.  I will post pictures in my next post.  Until then, happy aloha Monday!

Bring Back My Bar

For any Scentsy lovers out there it is Bring Back My Bar Month throughout the month of July.  Scentsy does this twice a year and for one month only there are 20 previously discontinued scents that have been voted on and are brought back.  This means if you were a huge fan of a particular scent that went away, you may be in luck!

So far some of my favorites on this list is Cashmere, Grape Granita, Lemon Lavender and Pineapple Paradise.  Check it out! They will all go away August 1!

Where You're At: Friday Link Up. Week 2

Happy Aloha Friday!

Mahalo for stopping by!  If you are new click here then let me introduce you to my

The idea is for us to share something about where we are at.  Last week I shared about an MWR facility my family visited, Pililaau Army Recreation Center.  Today I am going to be a little different and share about Ala Moana Shopping Center!

(all you folks who live here or have visited probably know of which I speak!)

Ala Moana Shopping Center is one of the largest open air malls in the world (so they like to say) and is located near Waikiki in Honolulu.  Therefore it is a really popular place to shop for tourists and locals alike! If you love to shop you could spend hours and hours in here and not see everything.  This is a place where you can walk past snooty looking doorkeepers at Bulgari, Cartier and all the other luxury brands that require doors to their entrance (in a mall) and buy a pretzel and lotion from Bath and Body Works all in the same place . I am sharing about it because Little Baby (who's not so little anymore) and I made a little visit to here.

and here

The boys have recently been getting into Lego's after they received some sets as gifts for their birthdays.  I love Legos! I have fond memories of spending hours as a kid creating all kinds of things.  It makes me happy that my boys are enjoying them.  The store is a lot of fun.  You can buy kits or you can fill pots with various bricks to fill out your own collection.

And as far as the Disney store goes, it is everything one would expect for a Disney store! It was recently re-done and re-opened back in May. It is a smaller size store but it is really bright, colorful and interactive all throughout and has an area for the kids to watch Disney videos, answer trivia and color Disney pictures.  It definitely makes me want to plan a trip to Disney, that's for sure! I didn't buy anything but it was worth a trip to meander!

So what about you?

On the subject of groupon...

Remember where I wrote about going through paperwork the other day? Well it was a good thing the inspiration struck me because as I was sorting through papers I came across a half off Groupon kind of deal I had purchased online almost a year ago.  I had forgotten about it, misplaced it and I checked the fine print and it expires in a few days.  I better go use it because it's worth $100.

It got me thinking, I wonder how many people buy deals on sites like this and end up not using it?  Last fall while LT was deployed I had helped out a good friend of mine with her children when she gave birth and as a thank you she bought me a spa day groupon deal.  I kept meaning to use it and finally was able to schedule a day only a week or two before it expired.  It was really thoughtful and a nice experience.  I would have felt terrible if I had let it go unused.

Have you ever bought a groupon and never used it?

That mountain of paper.....

Does your desk look like this?

Yes, that would be mine just add a few more piles to it.  We have two built in desks which can result in being a catch all for paperwork, mail, bills- and everything else.  It is one of my most loathed things to sort through so I usually let it pile up until it gets ridiculous.  I start overthinking everything like should I save, keep, file?? and then I get on blogger to make a post about it. It takes me a day or two of really focusing with the end goal of having a clear desk.

Well, one can hope!

What is the one household chore YOU can't stand?

Weekend Recap

I had a good weekend.  How was yours?

LT and I met up with some good friends and took our children on the Ewa Train run by the Hawaiian Railway Society.  It was a hot and humid day for sure but the boys loved it.  The train rambled along slowly and if the seats were more comfortable I think we all could have taken a nap!

I have noticed that I am usually the one who takes the majority of the pictures.  Therefore, most of my pictures have my husband or my children in them and very rarely, me.

Can anyone relate??

So here is my one shot of the two of us on the train.  Though you would never know we were on it........

Happy Monday!
